Best offer on record: Free plan ('Start using Airplane for free'). 3 verified findings, checked 2026-10-22.
Offers
Free plan ('Start using Airplane for free') high confidence
Final form (2023-2024, last archived official pricing page 2024-03-10): Free $0/user/month with unlimited users, unlimited objects, 2 environments, 3 days of activity history. Limits evolved: 2021 early access was $0/mo unlimited tasks+users; Mar 2022 free tier was up to 5 users + up to 5 runbooks/tasks + 3-day activity log; Sep 2022 was up to 5 users + up to 50 objects; by Sep 2023 it was unlimited users/objects + 2 environments + 3-day history (the widely-cited '5 internal tools, unlimited users' line is an intermediate 2022-era limit, not the final state). 'Objects' = internal apps (UI/API serverless functions).
Eligibility
Anyone (personal or company). No .edu email, no startup stage/funding requirement. No credit card requirement documented on any archived page; sign-up was GitHub-login based ('Sign Up' button), Free tier had a 'Get started' CTA.
How to claim
Sign up at airplane.dev with GitHub, choose the Free plan ($0) - no form, no credits to redeem. Paid Team ($10/user/mo) and Business ($40/user/mo) tiers were marked 'Try for free'.
Expiry
EXPIRED - service sunset 2024-03-01 (acquisition by Airtable); new signups closed 2024-01-03. No offer exists as of 2026-10-22.
Gotchas
Trial-vs-free: the free plan was genuinely perpetual while live, but the whole platform was sunset so nothing persists. Data: 3-day activity-history cap on Free; self-hosted agents, group permissions and env/embed features were paid-only. Self-hosted agents were the only data-egress mitigation; no public egress/egress-fee schedule on Free. The live URL now redirects in a 301 loop on a Squarespace parking backend - any link to airplane.dev/pricing in old articles is dead.
Airplane for Startups - up to $10,000 in credits high confidence
Program ('Scalable tools for fast-moving teams'): eligible startups could redeem up to $10,000 in Airplane credits, valid for a year. Page was live from at least 2023-03 through its last 200 capture 2024-02-29, and already returning 404 by 2024-05-16. Intro blog post 'introducing-airplane-for-startups' appeared 2024-01-04.
Eligibility
Three stated requirements: (1) fewer than 50 employees, (2) Series A or earlier (stage cap - no explicit dollar funding figure), (3) not a current paying customer. Work email required on the form (no .edu angle, it was a startup program); no region limits stated.
How to claim
Fill out the form on airplane.dev/startups ('Redeem your credits'): name, work email, company name, and an optional 'Anything specific you want to use Airplane for?' field; approval was manual. No credit card required. Program was dead once Airplane itself shut down.
Expiry
EXPIRED - program ended with platform sunset 2024-03-01; /startups 404 by 2024-05-16. $10,000 of credits for a year is unredeemable and the platform it applied to no longer exists.
Gotchas
Credits were Airplane-platform-only (valueless post-sunset). The 'up to $10,000' was a cap, not a guaranteed amount. 'Series A or earlier' is the only funding/stage gate. No student/education variant of this program ever existed.
Free trials on paid plans (Team 'Try for free', Business 'Try for free') medium confidence
Team at $10/user/mo and Business at $40/user/mo carried 'Try for free' CTAs on the 2023-2024 pricing page; trial duration and post-trial billing terms were not published on the page. (Enterprise was custom, 'Book demo'.)
Eligibility
Anyone signing up; no startup/stage restrictions; no .edu requirement. No credit-card requirement documented on the archived page (sign-up via GitHub login).
How to claim
Click 'Try for free' on the Team or Business tier at airplane.dev/pricing.
Expiry
EXPIRED - all signups closed 2024-01-03; platform sunset 2024-03-01.
Gotchas
Trial terms (duration, CC capture) were not published and cannot be verified; treat as non-existent now.
FULLY SUNSET - nothing live as of 2026-10-22. Timeline (verified today via DNS, live probing and Wayback): (1) 2024-01-03: Airtable announces acquisition of Airplane in official blog 'Airtable acquires Airplane' (archived: https://web.archive.org/web/20240310140454/https://www.airplane.dev/blog/airtable); same post states 'we will unfortunately be sunsetting the Airplane platform on March 1' and that new signups had already closed. (2) 2024-03-01: platform sunset date. (3) 2024-05-16: /startups already returning 404. (4) No 200-status HTML captures of any airplane.dev page (incl. subdomains) exist after mid-March 2024; all 2025-2026 captures are 301s. (5) As of 2026-10-22 the domain itself is lapsed/parked: authoritative Googledomains NS shows apex A-record 198.49.23.145 (NSI-style parking IP) and NXDOMAIN for www.airplane.dev; www paths serve self-referential 301 loops behind a 'Server: Squarespace' header, apex 301s to www - a broken-redirect parking loop, so even the parked page won't render. GitHub orgs 'rethink-dev' and 'getairplane' both 404. The team was absorbed into Airtable; Airtable did not continue Airplane as a standalone product on that domain. No education/student offer existed at any point: no /education, /students, or /student-programs pages in the archive and zero 'student'/'.edu' mentions on archived pricing/startup pages. Note the sunsetting happened in 2024, not 2025-2026; during 2025-2026 the domain simply went from dead to parked - no offer changes. All claims above therefore rely on archived copies of the official pages (read today), not on live ones, since the live pages no longer exist.
Critic corrections
Airplane: Discontinued. Airtable acquired Airplane in January 2024, closed signups and shut the platform down on March 1, 2024. The free plan no longer exists. Remove this entry.
